When someone has spent a lot of time working on a text, it is easy to become blind to mistakes. The eye sees what it thinks it should see, rather than what is actually on the page. I do not only check the language itself, but I also consider the flow and, as far as my knowledge of the topic allows, the logic, picking up on errors which had been previously overlooked.
